Principal Flood Risk and Hydraulic Modelling Consultant\nLocation: Cambridge\nSalary: £60,000 - £68,000\n\nReady to lead complex modelling projects while shaping the growth of a regional water team? This Principal Flood Risk and Hydraulic Modelling Consultant opportunity in Cambridge offers technical authority, client influence and clear long-term progression.\n\nA growing environmental consultancy is strengthening its senior capability in Cambridge. As a Principal Flood Risk and Hydraulic Modelling Consultant, you will take ownership of flood risk assessments, hydraulic modelling studies and water environment reporting across residential, commercial and infrastructure schemes.\n\nThe Principal Flood Risk and Hydraulic Modelling Consultant will oversee hydrological analysis using FEH, ReFH2 and WINFAP, and manage hydraulic modelling using HEC RAS, TUFLOW, ESTRY or Flood Modeller.

This Principal Flood Risk and Hydraulic Modelling Consultant role combines hands-on technical delivery with mentoring, stakeholder engagement and commercial awareness. Flexible working is available with a balanced office and home approach.\n\nKey responsibilities\n* Lead hydrological and hydraulic modelling studies \n* Prepare Flood Risk Assessments and ES chapters \n* Liaise with regulators, clients and multidisciplinary teams \n* Mentor junior consultants and review technical outputs \n* Support fee proposals, budgeting and project planning\n\nCandidate requirements\n* Minimum seven years' flood risk and modelling experience \n* Strong technical capability across modelling platforms \n* Confident report writer and client communicator \n* Chartered or working towards CIWEM or similar\n\nWhy apply\nThis Principal Flood Risk and Hydraulic Modelling Consultant position offers a salary of £60,000 - £75,000 alongside structured CPD, professional fee support and genuine progression.\n\nApplicants must already have the right to work in the UK.
